THERE SHOULD BE NO NEED FOR LOVE
All that is purest is born and occurs when there is no great need for it. When something is created unconditionally, not to cover an existing deficiency. All that is most magnificent manifests simply, like child’s play.
+ FAMILY. Pure, beautiful family relationships are only possible when both partners are already happy and no longer need each other. Their happiness is self-sufficient, and there’s no need for marriage as such. Because neither man nor woman hopes to solve any of their problems (loneliness, living space, laundry, and cooking) with this act. This union is born where two streams merge, no longer contained within one. When its vessel was full, love had to find a new channel, new shores. A family will be deformed if even one of them came into it out of need and dependence, coming to gain something.
+ LABOR. If you work to eat, stay warm, clothe yourself, and rest, then it’s simply slavery. It’s animal survival. Is it easy to collect your thoughts when you’re overwhelmed by fears?
True creative work, your true genius, will only begin when the body’s basic needs no longer depend on it. When you work out of love. With a desire to improve what already exists, and not simply because it needs fixing, mending, or correcting. Humanity’s greatest inventions were born out of both fear and love. But we admire only the latter. Who invented the wheel? The first weapon? The first painkiller? No one remembers these names. But people remember the authors of “Mona Lisa” and “The Odyssey,” and they still learn about the work of Christ and Muhammad.
+ FOOD. What kind of food do we eat when we’re simply trying to satisfy our hunger, trying to get rid of that nagging feeling in our stomachs? Will there be time left for culinary masterpieces? When we’re hungry, we make do with a piece of dry bread.
But the sweet marzipan parfait and the custard éclair weren’t born out of hunger! They were created with the desire to surprise, and that’s why they’re so delicious.
+ SPEECH. How does someone who needs to speak speak? How does someone who is conditioned to speak, who can’t contain their chatter, narrate? How they will bother you, because they need an audience!
The one who truly speaks is the one who cares nothing about whether their poetry will be appreciated. The most valuable words of love are those that have already been proven by action, when words are no longer needed. The one who is capable of sacrificing their own words for the sake of another will respond beautifully and succinctly. Those who have learned to remain silent are rewarded with powerful speech.
+ SPIRITUALITY. Pitiful and shameful are the pleas of those who ask. Anyone who turns to God with their problem is too blind to realize that He sent it to them in the first place. Stinginess is revealed by those who have something to ask for when everything they need has already been given. How many times a day does the Lord have to hear this mournful “give me…”?
On the contrary, a prayer of thanksgiving is powerful—one that is needless. Noble is the repentance that is without cause. Beautiful is the atonement that does not require sin. After all, unconditional love does not diminish if the object of our veneration displays bad qualities. And likewise, unconditional love does not grow if the object of our love displays bad qualities. Love is absolute, regardless of conditions. There can be no material reasons for true spiritual life. There must be no reasons for love; then it will happen.
